Purple Versicolor Iris
This beautiful Water Iris reed graces the pond margins with flowers of a rich purple (sometimes more red dependng on conditions) colour with white markings and yellow centres. Broad green foliage grows into attractive clumps, leaves and flowers leaning out over the water for lovely reflections. The tall emergent leaves are useful to pond insects such as emerging dragonflies. Plant in a large container using aquatic soil and covering with pea gravel. Trim decaying foliage in autumn.
Height 60 - 75cm (24" - 30").
Flowers May - June
Plant Iris versicolor in wet mud in a stream edge/bog garden or with up to 15cm (6") of water over the top of the basket in a sunny pond or container pond.
You can reduce the depths of your margins by sitting the planting baskets on concrete blocks or similar.
You will receive a young plant around 15 - 20cm 6" - 8" high, with some leaves and will be sent in it's rooted form to save on postal costs. It will require potting on receipt.
