Pink Water Lily
This is for one Rhizome of a 1st year water lily taken off the mother plant. This lily is in it's rooted form to save on postal costs. It will require potting on receipt. The winner will receive a young plant with root (rhizome), leaves and stems
NOTE: This plant is only just shooting, there will be no leaves but will grow up when the water temperatures increase. WINTER IS A GOOD TIME TO PLANT, as it gives the roots time to settle in.
A beautiful pink water lily, with lush green leaves. It will tolerate planting depths from 15cm (6") to 120cm (4ft) of water. Growth spread 120 to 150 cm.
Flowers: June to September
Spread: 70cm-90cm
Depth: 30cm-80cm
Hardy Water Lilies
Surely the most beautiful of the water plants, water lilies produce lovely flowers that float on the surface of the water while the ‘lily pads’ provide hiding places for fish and all kinds of pond creatures. By shading the water the floating leaves help to reduce algae growth.
When you first pot it, keep it in the shallows of your pond until the leaves reach the surface, then place it in the position you wish it down to 3ft depth. Alternatively, you can put in a deeper area if you can sit the lily basket on some breeze blocks or similar to bring it nearer the surface. Then when the leaves grow you can take the blocks away and drop it to the bottom.
We would suggest you pot it into a reasonably large aquatic plant pot straight away or you will need to re-pot at the end of this season.
