Kaffir Lily - Schizostylis coccinea
Hesperantha (sometimes schizostylis) coccinea known as Kaffir Lily or River Lily provides brilliant autumn colour! A small cousin to the gladioli miniature. It can be planted in boggy areas, or very moist ground. If place in a pond, keep the soil surface at the waterline or above. Do not completely sink the plant.
Top tip: Really useful as a pretty cut flower at a time when there’s not much else in the garden.
Flowers: September – November
Height: 25-35cm
Soil conditions: Best planted directly into damp soil, but can be planted into a standard plant pot with the rim at the waterline.
You can reduce the depths of your pond margin by sitting the planting baskets on concrete blocks or similar.
You will receive a young small plant around 4" to 6" (10 - 15cm) high, with some leaves (SEE picture showing the leaves)
